Terminology

Pass/Stand: this is when a player does not want any more cards and is satisfied with the total he/she has.

Buy: this is when a player wants a card.

Split: your first two cards have to have the same value (not type but value) then you can physically split the cards and you will receive a second card on each split card. When you split you must also double your bet, the bet you initially placed must be doubled for the second hand.

Double: if your total number of points add up to 9,10 or 11 with your first two cards you are allowed to double your bet. If you do this then you are only allowed to receive one card no matter what it is.

Insurance: when the bank has an Ace as its first card the croupier will ask the players if they want insurance. Insurance costs you half your bet and will be placed beside your initial bet on the table. If the bank then has a 10 as its second card (Black Jack) then all bets will be removed and the insurance bets will be paid, 2:1. This means that if you insured you will lose your bet but your insurance will make sure you win your bet back. If the bank does not draw a 10 then all insurance bets will be removed from the table immediately.
