The origin of this game lies in a very old Chinese domino game, Pai Gow. Pai Gow means “not a pair” or “nothing”. This game was played with dominos until it reached the United States where the stones were quickly replaced with playing cards and the game was renamed Pai Gow Poker.

Players can play against the bank but also against each other. There are 52 playing cards used in a game and occasionally one joker.
