The idea of Caribbean stud is simply to have a better five card poker hand than the dealer and play goes as follows. First you place your ante bet which can be anything within the table limits after which the two hands are dealt. In online casinos your cards are face up but only one of the dealers cards is showing and based on this you must decide whether you can beat the dealer or not. If you think you can then you place an additional bet which is always equal to twice your ante bet and the cards are turned to see who wins. If you win then your ante bet is paid out at 1:1 but your additional bet when playing Caribbean stud is paid at odds according to how strong your hand is so for example two pairs will pay at 2:1 but a flush will pay at odds of 50:1. The only proviso is that the dealer must have at least an ace/king for your additional bet to pay out and if not then only your ante is paid at 1:1.
